The US Air Force Academy's Cadet Chapel was the scene of a very emotional Memorial Service for fallen comrades. Organized by Walt Longacre, the Ceremony began with a Organ Prelude followed by the Peterson AF Base's Color Guards impressive Presentation of the Colors . Following a brief welcome by the Base Chaplain the USAF Academy Quartet rendered a resounding National Anthem. In a solemn moment, Ken Kill assisted Walter in reading the names of departed Comrades as Bill Bartlet placed crosses on the Memorial. The blaring sound of Peterson's AF Base Bugler playing Taps left many of the participants red-eyed and teary. Emotions were further stirred as the Chapel Organist concluded the ceremony with a loud and gutsy rendition of the Air Force Song.
A large group of 781st members visited the B-24 Memorial honoring WWII Groups flying 24's. Interestingly, Col Lockker's name was found on the Bronze Plaque supporting the plane above it.
Those that had money, spent it!
No tour ever started without
stopping at a rest-stop in which you could spend money. The tour through the "Gardens of the Gods" was no exception. These hearty souls departed the Trading Post
with many trinkets and souvenirs.
